The Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA) welcomed the newly appointed Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy, Mr Christopher Green, for a courtesy meeting at its headquarters on Wednesday 12th August 2026.

Mr Green was received by SPA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Pierre Prosper, alongside Deputy Chief Executive Officer Mr Ronny Matatiken, Special Advisor Dr Egbert Moustache, and Deputy Harbour Master Captain France Savy.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss and strengthen areas of cooperation between the US Embassy and the Seychelles Ports Authority, with particular emphasis on maritime, port security and other port-related matters.

In his welcoming remarks, Mr Green expressed his keen interest in Seychelles’ maritime, fisheries and port industries. He noted that the US diplomatic presence in Seychelles is expanding, particularly with the construction of the new US Embassy, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Mr Green said the expansion would provide an opportunity to strengthen engagement and address gaps that may have existed over the years, following the establishment of a more permanent US presence in Seychelles.

The SPA Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer highlighted opportunities for long-term US support in areas including port and maritime security, regulatory compliance and capacity building. They also underscored the importance of maintaining compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code at Port Victoria, as an international
port.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to exploring opportunities for closer cooperation and strengthening collaboration in support of Seychelles’ maritime and port security objectives.
