At the Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA), we place strong emphasis on capacity building and the continuous professional development of our staff. In line with this commitment, the Port Operations team has embarked on a series of professional development sessions for 2026 aimed at strengthening operational standards, enhancing workforce competence, and reinforcing a culture of safety and excellence across our ports.
The first session was successfully held on Friday, 13 February 2026, at the SPA Headquarters. The training brought together Port Operations staff from Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, fostering knowledge-sharing and alignment across our islands.
This covered several critical areas essential to effective port operations, including Personal Safety, Proper Use of Personal, Protective Equipment (PPE), Effective Communication and Line Operation Briefing.
These topics were addressed in depth to ensure participants not only understood regulatory and procedural requirements but also appreciated the practical application of these standards in their daily operations.
This training is part of a broader strategic initiative designed to reinforce safety protocols, improve communication efficiency, and enhance overall operational performance within the port environment. It reflects SPA’s commitment to professional development, safety excellence, and continuous improvement in port operations.
At the end of the session, a certificate presentation ceremony was held to formally recognise the participants who successfully completed the training. This recognition underscores the Authority’s appreciation for staff engagement and dedication to professional growth. Over the course of the year, additional training sessions will be conducted to ensure that all members of the Port Operations Department benefit from these development opportunities.
