The Seychelles Ports Authority (SPA) successfully completed a complex towage operation on Sunday 27th September 2026, in support of the National Dredging and Reclamation Project.
The operationally and technically demanding operation commenced at 0700hrs and was successfully completed at 1700hrs. It required extensive preparation, careful planning, close coordination and continuous technical assessment to ensure that the operation was carried out safely and efficiently.
To conduct this operation, SPA deployed its marine assets, including tugs and pilot boat, together with its experienced marine crew. As part of the operation, support barges and the dredger were safely towed to their requested berth at Mahe Quay.
In preparation for the operation, SPA conducted a series of coordination meetings, site visits, planning sessions and operational briefings. These preparatory activities were essential in identifying operational requirements, assessing potential risks and ensuring that all teams involved were fully briefed on the execution of the towage operation.
Throughout the operation, continuous monitoring and communication were maintained to ensure the safe and coordinated movement of the barges and marine assets.
The successful completion of the operation reflects the professionalism, technical expertise and strong teamwork of the Harbour Master’s Office and Operations teams, together with the effective coordination and cooperation of all stakeholders involved.
This operation marks another important milestone in SPA’s contribution to the wider National Dredging and Reclamation Project. SPA is proud to support this significant national endeavour and to contribute its expertise, resources and marine capabilities to the successful implementation of the project.
