Captain Jean-Paul Fanchette is a Class 1 Master Mariner with a proven track record in port and marine operations. He was appointed as the Harbour Master in August 2024 after serving over one and a half years as Deputy Harbour Master. Captain Fanchette holds a First Class Honours Degree in Nautical Science. He has extensive experience with the German Tanker Shipping (GTS), sailing petroleum tankers owned by the Seychelles Petroleum Company (SEYPEC). His last role was that of Master of the fleet of SEYPEC tankers. As Harbour Master, as stated in the SPA Act, Captain Fanchette is ultimately responsible for the enforcement of Port Regulations within the port and harbour limits, and for the management of all port facilities owned by the SPA.
